For more than twenty years, Deby Eisenberg led a thriving Chicago-area book club, where countless discussions about unforgettable novels inspired her to take on a challenge of her own — to write a story her fellow readers would be unable to put down and eager to discuss long after turning the final page.
Her passion for writing began early. As a child, she won poetry and writing competitions, and in high school she served as Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper before spending a summer as Society Editor for a local newspaper. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois before teaching high school English and completing her Master’s degree at the University of Chicago.
Inspired by the works of exceptional authors and fueled by her lifelong love of literary research, art, architecture, Jewish history, and travel throughout the United States and Europe, Deby set out to write stories that do more than entertain. Her novels weave together compelling characters, rich historical settings, and emotional depth, creating multi-generational stories that broaden the mind, touch the heart, and spark meaningful conversation.

Deby is the author of three novels: Pictures of the Past, Protecting Paige, and Passions of the Grande Dame Hotel. Throughout her writing career, she has spoken nationally, including as a Jewish Book Council touring author.  She has been featured in numerous magazines while earning recognition and awards for her work. Along the way, she has built friendships with acclaimed authors in her genre, including Lisa Barr and Ron Balson.
Deby and her husband, Dr. Michael Eisenberg, live in the Chicago area and Boca Raton, Florida. They have three grown children and nine grandchildren.
Whether speaking to literary organizations, book clubs, or community groups, Deby enjoys connecting with readers, sharing the inspiration behind her novels, and exploring the power of stories to preserve history, deepen understanding, and bring people together.
